Default Color Management Tools!

I was recently looking at a wide format printer and as i was talking to one of the sales folks they asked what color management system I was currently using. Looking a bit confused I answered honestly and said I have never used a color management system and knew nothing about them.He mentioned several including Spyder and Color Munki. I was curious what information/suggestions any of you might have in regards to color management systems. Please keep in mind I have no knowledge of any of these systems and would be grateful for any and all help.
