What new lens envy do you have?

Trinity Complete

I have been wanting and wishing for the 12-24mm f/2.8 for my D3 for a number of years now. I needed it to complete my set. My wife finally got tired of hearing me talk about it and told me to just go ahead and get it. It is scheduled to arrive next Thursday. It will be going with us in March for my first ever trip to the Grand Canyon.

James,

I'm more interested in that 14-24 G lens than any Nikon camera. It's a favorite of Canon users for several years now!

Who makes this 12-24mm that you are talking about? Nikon has an f/4 version but it is for DX format. The 14-24mm f\2.8 that I am getting for my full frame D3 has no rivals that I am aware of at this time.

James,

Of course, it's the 14-24 f2.8 G. I typo'd! I bought the adapter to use it on my Eos but the lens is still on my envy short-list!

Ah yes. Now I understand. I am really looking forward to this lens and also the Grand Canyon. For that I also bought the Lee SW-150 filter holder made especially for this lens. That was the drawback initially, the inability to attach filters to this lens due to its prominently bulbous front element and teeny, built-in petal hood. Lee designed this holder for this lens so that grads could be easily used. It was rather pricey but I got it anyway because I need all the help I can get.
