#2 is the real winner of this group. #1 kind of has both players off the ball, and I might crop off the OOF lefthand player. #4 has too much back in it. #3 is OK, nothing there to complain about, but #2 is just plain sweet.

These are all nice. #2, while not showing a lot of competitive action is a bit of a classic pose ... I could see this on a box of Wheaties. I have shot a ton of boys high school soccer and there is a significant drop off of contact between the two ... making boys easier to shoot.

Thanks Nill.
BGs are a problem for me in soccer. In fact, soccer is very challenging for me to shoot, even at this level. It's fun though.

No I literally meant "back," as in player #3's back. Your backgrounds are fine for the most part. The 300 f/2.8 takes care of that pretty well.

Do you have any tutorials posted on shooting soccer? I started last year (2007) and just HS girls soccer.
I appreciate the compliment on the photos. If you could post any advice on shooting soccer, or point me somewhere, I'd be grateful.

thanks.

how embarassing.
I see what you mean now. I wasn't looking at the players back in that photo, but at the background.
I'm not complaining, but soccer is a challenge for me. I only started shooting it last summer (2007). So I've got a lot to learn.

Well, it's like anything else, you have to force yourself to see the whole frame... but in sports more than other genres, cropping is your friend.
