A good catch (it looks spontaneous). That they are facing in nearly opposite directions really serves the composition.

Would including the lady's feet have made the picture substantially better?
This is not obvious to me. Is the framing deliberate or just how it happened.
In any case, perhaps the "cut-off" helps to quickly switch our attention to the child.
.........perhaps you actually cropped it to get this way! ?
