Klaus,

Who doesn't love such a genuine glimpse into classic old architecture and narrow winding streets?

This is more than pretty, but also has historical importance. It shows the thousand year old form of making outside walls inlaid with geometrical wooden patterns. We see the roofs, with two slopes. One to get the water off efficiently but the next one, with grates, to prevent snow and ice crushing passers by. There is so much craftwork here and there must be so many skilled artisans to support such detailed home making and perfect maintenance.

I love being so enjoyably educated!

Thank you! It is indeed a special street of historic value ("Judengasse"), where the Jews resided here in the 16th century in a part of the town where the Tanneries were located (due to a brook runing through it). One of the prettiest historic streets, as many such old houses are well preserved - and still people live it them today.

Weinheim has an interesting history which itself represents well that of Jews in European Cities and Towns from the time of imperial Rome spreading over the continent.

A great report is found here.

There's a lot of beauty, generosity, betrayal and tragedy in this story
