Hello from sunny Southern California!

I grew up over here in Loma Linda California and sort of stumbled upon photography. About 18 months ago, I got a Canon 60D. Now I'm just trying to catch up. Here are some photos over the last year:

This first picture is of my friend, Nico:

Adrian Wareham: My Friend Nico!

Adrian,

This is a grand way to start; caring and trust and here that works!

Thanks! I just realized that I forgot most of the metadata for those photos, but I can remember the lens used, and specs.

Nico was pictured during a sneak attack out with me at a bar with what was then a T2i (got broken, just switched to 60D, long story), and the Canon "Nifty Fifty" f1.8 II 50mm.

The moon was shot on a clear night from my roof with the T2i and a Tamron 75-300mm tele-macro "POS" ... still, it did the job!

The sunset was also with the aforementioned Tamron tele-macro lens, also from my roof, but as the sun set just North of LA onto Mt Baldy.

The boat is one made by my late step-grandfather. I used a 60D with a Sigma f1.4 50mm lens.

You guys probably can guess more about the settings of the older pictures than I can remember, but c'est la vie!

The model junk looks very carefully made, though the rig is not one that we know well, being in Britain. It is the sort of photo that my wife and I take quite a lot, as she is a maritime historian.

We are envying you the Southern Californian climate: although it has been sunny in East Anglia today the temperature never got above 7 deg. C (about 47 F).

Well now it's snow in March. Go figure. Anyway, it makes the skies clearer, which means I can set the camera to get more of the moon's dimension, so that it doesn't look so flat.
