400 f/2.8L IS on 1D2N, mostly ISO 3200, 1/400 f/2.8. I think 1/400 is a little below the minimum for LAX what with the flying sticks and tiny ball, but it's the best I can do in this light.

I'm still learning this goofy sport — rugby with weapons. Complete match here.

Hello Nill, yes the first photo looks as though it could involve some pain....

Great captures at 1/400, did you use IS for these? I have never shot at ISO 3200 and I am impressed with the low noise level... I use the same camera and lens, so I'm interested to see these results... Great action !!

still up to your usual high standards nil (!!), although i would agree that 1/400 does seem a touch slow for the furious pace of lax, but when there is no other good choice it's perfect!! and amazingly clean at this size for 3200! how large can you print a good one??
i shoot my first game of the season this afternoon. this is my 4th lax season, and i enjoy it more each one, partly because i get to be outdoors on early spring afternoons...
