Improving Pigment Print Longevity Using Orange and Green v. Yellow for Skin!

Asher Kelman

OPF Owner/Editor-in-Chief
Some 80% of the pictures we make contain skin and therefore, at least until recently, depended on yellow as a component of skin color. Unfortunately, yellow is also the most light sensitive pigment in use and the weakest link in the color tools we have. A recent article in the Luminous Landscape reports on the use of Imageprint rip with the new epson HDR inks and substantial gains in longevity. The idea is to minimize to the greatest possible extent the use of yellow. It appears that Imageprint software does a much better job than epson's own software. Over 1-5 years or so, we'd start to notice differences.
