Somonauk Creek

Decided to burn off this morning's bowl of Cheerios with an easy stroll along the banks of an insignificant local creek. A light snow fell yesterday and into last night which went a long way toward balancing the bright sky with the forest shadows for this landscape. Hard to believe that the vernal equinox is just six days away.

Somehow, I feel that beavers are scouting the area to plan a new dam for the spring!

Very much a scene I love!

Do you wear Wellington boots as there could be pools and mud hidden amongst the grass on the shore!

Thank you everyone!

Asher, beavers are very active in this area. The county leaves them alone until their activity threatens adjacent property. Perpetrators are then quietly removed along with their dams.

Waterproof boots are usually de rigueur along waterways hereabouts, but below freezing temperatures lately has turned all the boggy ground into something like pavement. A side benefit; no mosquitoes!
