To all European Epson Users

Hi Everyone

I'm not sure if it's only here, but the Epson 4900 costs three times as much in Switzerland right now as in America. I've contacted Epson here, and they gave me some very indirect, and not very convincing, excuses to explain this difference.

I would like to organize some kind of protest and would be very grateful for any support/ideas the international Epson community would suggest.

A Facebook boycott call?. A petition to Epson to lower their international prices?

Let's put an end to this nonsense.

Hello Gary,

The Eu regulatory authorities are already on to Epson for the price of their inks. That's where your protest should be lodged. It's one of the most expensive fluids on the planet. In spite of that, the competing ink suppliers were still forced to stop supplying compatible ink in Epson cartridges!

Meanwhile, we expect new members first posts to be an introduction to their photography, not promoting a campaign. We don't allow advertising for our Buy and Sell section at all for new members. We also are highly uncomfortable by promotions from new members especially where there are no other substantial quality contributions. This really tests us. First comes photography. You at least are highly qualified in this respect. I'll wait overnight and see what else is posted.

One would think that a campaign such as this would be a benefit to a good part of the community here.
I am not lodging a complaint here but rather looking for kindred spirits who would also like to do something about this situation.

Rather look here than at a plumbers convention!
This is definitely not a personal promotion.

As to my photographic contributions, they will come too.

Gary,

I too think prices are too high in Europe for many camera products. However, Mamiya was always less expensive in the U.K. Robert White is really fair!

Are we talking about the epson scanner or inkjet printer?
(cause the link before is about printer)

It's the printer under discussion.

Today the price in the UK from Amazon is £ 1,449.99 which, right now is $2,280.5 at the current exchange rate. So surprisingly, this is $200 less than the reliably bargain offerings of B&H at $2,495! Of course VAT has to be added to UK purchases. Someone might check whether or not that's already included in amazon UK's price.
