Allow me to be very serious about Ayesha's pretty reminder about cruelty and racism that disgraced and tortured South Africa and should have taught a us, in "The Land of the Free" to remember such horrors with regret shame and resolution.
On Holocaust Memorial Day, Trump utterly cleansed the word "Jew" from the so-called "remembrance". Also, the strongest epithet of distaste for this purposeful destruction of millions of humans in gas chambers was the gentle word, "sad"! So it was "sad"? That declaration is the first step in Holocaust denial!
Worse, this flippancy is no accident. It fits in with Tump's irrational and hate-filled ban on Muslims traveling here. Fits in with the lauding of Trumps ban by David Duke an avowed racist. When Jews see Muslims rounded up at airports, held with no food or explanation, we feel that criminal history is being repeated again...and in the name of security and "America First"! This we cannot tolerate.
We now have the architect of the alternative right replacing the General's of the Joint chiefs of staff and Intelligence community in what has always been an apolitical security committee.
Ayesha's message is both tragic and hopeful. However beauty and humor are not sufficient in a fight against racism.
If we are fighting terrorism, we should sooner ban everyone from Pakiatan which has given nuclear technology and ballistic missiles to our enemies and sent the bomber woman to San Bernadino, CA to murder the innocents!
Imagine that the former Iraqi ambassador to the USA cannot travel to Washington to attend an Anti ISIS academic meeting!
We have American soldiers fighting side by side with Iraqi Muslims. We can mix our blood on the battlefield but not in friendship on a bus or with family in our homeland!
