Peter,

You picked a good one here! He has style: beautiful hat, sportsy shirt with a label, coiffed cuffs, smart mustache, leather on his waist and attractive necklace!

This fellow seems like an interesting well put together character, with a great sense of pizas and self-worth!

....not sure I would lend him money and expect it to ever come back, but our judgement of strangers really reflects our own fantasies and fears and is just spurious, at best!

Not easily visible is the "serape" over his left shoulder. That is part of standard attire, you could even say mens' fashion, along with the sombrero that adult men wear when in the village. It is a sort of a light blanket with a hole cut out to pass your head through that can be donned like a poncho if the weather turns chilly. It is rarely deployed and is mostly an "accessory". This is strictly "campesino" and no city folk would be caught dead wearing one... for fear of being branded "campesino".
