With shadows on the wall, the emphasis is on the dark tones.

Here we see all grades of illumination but especially the marks of the entering beams of light!

Asher Kelman: Light on "Watever" Boats by Nicolas Claris

Apple iPhone 6+

The photograph on the wall can be obtained from the international project associated with water-attached communities that need our help to be self-sustaining: it’s called the ”Watever” Project. Nicolas has donated his prints and if you buy one, all the benefits go to Watever :

Contact is Alexandra Sourbier <alexandra.sourbier@watever.org>

I guarantee you will love the prints! The scientist and engineering volunteers have enabled the local Bangladeshi fishermen to replace their flimsy disintegrating boats made of poor wood with locally grown jute fiber embedded in acrylic resin. This creates a thriving local jute industry and means that the women are bread winners and can educate their daughters and the men won’t drown on mass when the wooden boats come apart in the high seas!

The name of the artwork by Nicolas Claris that is on the wall above, is “Cox Bazzar”

It’s a beach of abandoned colored boats from a fishing village. After a short number of years, the poor quality local wood can not sustain rough seas and distintegrates killing many seamen.

From the catalog of the artwork for sale:

“Cox’s Bazaar.
Shander Nouka en fin de vie, abandonnés sur la plage.”

Shander Nouka means Moon Boat

So a translation would be “Moon boats, at the end of their life, abandoned on the beach.”
