Sadly, it probably will be costly. From the exploded diagrams I've seen of the Nikon body frames, it appears the screen is mounted from beneath (that's a lot of disassembly).

Might really be the time now. Was coming back from vacation and unloading the car after a full day of driving and the camera slipped out of my backpack. The metal mount on the camera body snapped off (so it's still connected to the lens.) I'm certain that's not going to be inexpensive to repair.
Of course, I really don't have the money to buy anything at the moment so I'm going to fire up the Lumix FZ30 again for the time being.
