Some months ago I bought the starter kit of Lee filters. The Landscape Set

These filters are sold under hard and soft gradation. My fault, I bought the hard ones.
In a near future I will be making landscapes photographies not only in Portugal but also in... guess: yes India again. I want to get a bunch of beautiful landscapes images.

I tried the filters mentioned above. I only liked the blue one. Perhaps I have not read enough about them and I can't use them properly but that is something I must do by myself.
The sepia and the straw returned very aggressive results.

I would like to buy two others: a coral soft gradation and a neutral density.

Will you please share your thought with me about this subject ?
Tell me about your experience about filters.

Or perhaps just one filter like this one below in soft gradation...

You can see how I am a bit confused about this. That's the reason why I am asking you to give me a tip, if you please.
Thank you ! :)

Antonio,

I use continuous gradients. Combinations are made by using more than one filter. Generally speaking, colored filters are best for film where one is not scanning and correcting digitally but printing. For B&W , especially, we then expose more for certain wavelengths to bring out the clouds or foliage, for example. But with digital photography, there is was need for color filters unless, of course one has a standard effect one likes for creative purpose or one that adds a blur to make a face appear more beautiful.

Thank you Asher.
I will use the blue gradient filter mostly for landscapes so the sky will be with some detail.
But I think I could also use a neutral density one... either graded or not.

Usually filter holders have several slots! Remember mine has a giant concertina fabric sun shade too!

But there are smaller ones. I use the large one!

Yes I know.
Thanks. I do not want to carry that stuff around.
I make things simpler: just the basic kit and 3 filters.
(is that simples ? :) )
