Hi All,
I have just registered in this forum, and am pleased to see some familiar names I met virtually on the LFF, such as Jim "King of the Brass", Asher, etc.
It looks like there are more european names in here. Let's hope that the discussions are kept under control...
It is nice to have digital, LF and MF in one forum, since most of people use two of them. I like the LF and MF in Switzerland, but as I travel a lot, I use (reluctantly) DLSR, exclusively with manual lenses. I use MF in selected countries as Mongolia, where the light is incredible. My LF stays in Switzerland, since I do not feel the strength of moving through the globe with tons of gear.
See you around!
Best, Serge

Hi Serge,

So glad you are here. We have worked very hard to build a forum by setting an example of respect, and nurturing with

THE RULES:

  • zero arrogance,
  • no demeaning atitudes
  • no gurus or no semi gurus
  • no censorship
  • no closure of threads,
  • no self promotion (one can use Buy and Sell once one has contributed substantially and have a link in one's siganture, or posts services "Uptown"
  • do demeaning
  • no showing originals or derivatives of pictures shared in OPF on one's own site without written license.
  • and simply following our motto, "Be nice to everyone in the tour bus!" since each has our own journey, values, needs and purpose for coming together.

We heavily screen before even the registration is complete and that way we have with very rare cases, no spam or flames. Even fairly offensive posts might be kept as long as the images do not demean, contain cruelty or subvert values of decency to animals and the planet. So naked people are fine but porn is not. What standard? Who knows! but we manage. If it offends it goes to "Uptown" where one enters at one's own risk. Child porn or the hint of it get no toleration.

No one bans people, once they are in OPF, except if it has to be done :) , (stealing other people's pictures, religious hateful fanaticism and using OPF to sell insurance) caused me no pain, LOL. I am the one, the only one who makes the rules, who can hard delete (all moderators can soft delete, but then these are evaluated again as removing a post is something that is very serious in an open forum. There is one exception, Nicolas Claris is the co-administrator who is responsible for the look at branding of OPF. He can ban and delete but he has never done that.

All pictures, unless otherwise specified are for comments and critique.

Titles: While not compulsory these are encouraged, so they can be referred to as something of worth, like a person. Titles also help us relate to the intent of the photographer and put us somewhere on the track of the photographer's location in purpose, milieux and meaning.

I put this long reply here since you brought up the value of people's good behavior. We simply do not have fights here and that's because we go out of our way to be hospitable and considerate.

Am so glad you are here.

Asher

BTW, what LF camera do you use? Are you in LA and will I see you on Sunday on the figure study shoot with 2 models?
