Default Cat among the Cherokee

A couple of weeks ago, Carla traveled to Oklahoma to visit her cousin Judy and to see a number of other relatives, most of them (Judy included) of Cherokee ancestry (as of course is Carla). She also visited the Cherokee Nation "capital" in Tahlequah to do some genealogical research and take care of some administrative matters.

Here we see Judy's Himalayan cat, Topper, relaxing (unposed) in the living room.

Carla C. Kerr: Topper

Perhaps by coincidence, the two paperback books to our left are two of Carla's historical novels (the first two books of the trilogy, Cherokee Adventures), and the newspaper to the right is the Cherokee Phoenix, the oldest newspaper published by American Indians (from 1828) and the first published in an American Indian language (Tsalagi, which would be called in English "Cherokee"). (It is today bilingual, with material in both English and Tsalagi.)

Best regards,

Doug

I wonder if the cat is elegance for Red Hat Socity Membership, just on the basis of being well red and damn beautiful!

An excellent observation!

Siri's transmogrification of "eligible" into "elegance" is truly Freudian!

Best regards,

Doug
