The Sony FE 100mm f/2.8 STF GM OSS is designed for specially smooth "bokeh". It replaces the original 135mm version by Minolta. For shaping the out of focus area, it uses an apodisation element, basically a progressively tinted diaphragm. Geometric aperture is f/2.8, but photographic aperture is smaller, between 4 and 5.6, depending on how one considers it.
