The American flag in almost-monochrome

Carla's son Larry, with his wife, Nona, and their puppy, Foxy, are members of our household. Larry does essentially all our local shopping, for food, household supplies, and so forth. One common supplier is of course our "little Walmart" store. (We also have a "big Walmart" store, but it is farther from our place.) It is located at at high spot on the east edge of town, and from its parking lot one can see almost the entire town.

Recently Larry was there just at sunset, and saw this wonderful scene of a large American flag, probably printed nylon, and evidently translucent, on a mast at a nearby large medical office building, backlit by the setting sun. He grabbed this shot with his trusty Panasonic Lumix ZX-1000, which he usually takes with him when he is out and about.

Lawrence R. Henry: American flag, backlit
Edited by Douglas A. Kerr

This is basically ex camera, cropped (rather tightly in fact) and with just a little adjustment of brightness, and downsized to best suit presentation here.

We are not sure what the "duck totem" object to the right is. That will be checked out on the next visit to the little Walmart.

Larry advises that the points of light seen below the flag, alongside its mast, are at Holloman Air Force Base, just a few miles west of Alamogordo.

Best regards,

Doug
