This fellow looks so well made! No attempt at camouflage. Does it taste bad to birds?

How come you got this? Do you walk around with a macro lens and a ring light?

No Asher I use a Sony 24 1.8 which is so sharp that combined with the 24mp of the Sony a6000 I can crop way down. Weevil is about 1.5cm long.

So where can one expect them? are they common?

I this found on a particular plant species or everywhere?

It's the first time I've seen one but they are rather small. Found it on my front porch. The coloration is probably it's defense. Not 100% sure but believe it is Cephalobarus macrocephalus.
