The light is a bit flat on them but that is a choice.

The blurring of the background has gone wrong in the full body version.
When you shoot the picture normally the plane of focus would extend to the feet and slightly in front and back (depending on the aperture).
by artificially blurring you make the picture look wrong, also arround the feet the blurring is not done 100%, you can still see the original structure :D

I like the first and last one best.

Well, Frank, what can I say but you are quite correct. blurring is always better done by the lens or by the shutter or even by the focus, not by photoshop.

Here Will did the shoot for his models and it was an exchange of services. Problem was that the background was crumpled and Will wanted to deal with that. With a black b.g., I just select it and bring it down so the creases all disappear or else I take sections and enhance the wrinkles to makes a structure that helps to balance the picture or else make it white.

So what do do with a crumpled background is an important question if you don't want it totally black or white, just pastels.

spray it with water a few hourse before the shoot and let it hang, it will get rid of the wrinkles.
Or try to incorperate them in the shoot.

Will,

I know the girls were themselves a great part of the creativity, but you yourself have done a good job as this is a departure from your own safe area of portrait and events.

Congrats for your new path.

Will,

Are you saying that you do not own the background and therefore you don't have permission to spray it or else you wouldn't consider wetting your background like that?

Hi, Asher,

Will,

Are you saying that you do not own the background and therefore you don't have permission to spray it or else you wouldn't consider wetting your background like that?

Perhaps Will is saying that his overall prior life experience would not equip him to do that.

Best regards,

Doug

Asher and Doug,

You are both somewhat correct. Not my studio, Not my background, and not my hosts background.

I have a similar background but lighter and color neutral. (this one had some blue spots in it)

The one I normally use has random smaller more even creases from being kept in a cloth bag not hung in a studio and stepped on.

And to get bad stains and creases out I put it in the washing machine and then dryer! I have even been known to bleach the white one!
