Hi from South Africa

I am a freelance writer/photographer living in Schoenmakerskop near Port Elizabeth in South Africa. I suppose I am a generalist photographer spending most of my time photographing nature, the sea and trying to document the impact humans have on the environment. I do a fair amount of surf photography, land based, and it was an image I saw in a gallery that prompted me to join OPF. I submit photos and/or writing to various magazines ranging from African Wildlife to ZigZag (a surfing magazine) and am a regular contributer to Pix, the only photographic magazine produced in South Africa. I must thank Asher for sorting out the difficulties I had when trying to register.

Hi Luc, and welcome! I am looking forward to seeing your photos from your side of the planet.

From your note, you've had a chance to look around OPF. There are lots of photography sites on the internet these days, but I don't think any of them are anywhere close to OPF with regard to diversity of subjects, styles, venues, and well-considered critiques.

Welcome on Board

Hi Luc, welcome.
Wondering to see your photos, especially the surfer subject:)
Always wanted to travel to South Africa, never did it. But I know the light must be just beautiful also for fashion and glamour shooting.

Best, Dan

Thank you

Thanks for the welcome. Just a quick question - I seem to be unable to attach images to a new post - Is this because I am working incorrectly or because the attachment option is disabled?

Hi Luc,
Would like to help....can you give us some particulars.
Do you get as far as the pop-up "insert image" dialog box.
It's the one that says "please enter the URL of your image"?

Thanks John. That is a far as I get - am used to dowloading off my pc and not off a URL.

Luc,

If one signs up for a free online account such as Flickr.com, imagebucket.com or similar you'll be able to post images anywhere you wish! We discussed hosting services here so there are a lot of good choices. Then you'll have an individual url "address" for each image you upload to your personal account. The address is simply a line of text starting with "http://www.XYZimagehostingetc/Luchosten/" etc. It will end with .jpg. It's that simple.

One then inserts that one line address in your text box as you are typing your message but first type
pasting in the URL of your image, type
which tells the software that your image should be loaded. When you post that, the software will call your online hosting site, pull the picture and it will be displayed in your post seamlessly.

IOW, just put the url between

Hope this works,

Asher
