    At first I used the function button for spot metering but the metering method switch is so easy to use that I changed the function button to bracketing. Which I never use. :)

    Go to f4 in the Custom Setting Menu. You can set the function button for a bracketing burst. You can then use the command dials (while pressing the button) to choose bracketing settings.

    I'm a Nikon guy, for the most part. You'll be very happy with the D300 though it depends on what you shoot. If you like sports then maybe the D3 is better. Although it is very expensive . . . . I use the D300 with a 35mm prime lens and most of my photographs are done with that.

    I would say that my Nikon 300 with a 35mm lens gets me the best results and that, of course, gives me great joy. Shooting handheld black and white with my Nikon FM3a and the 45mm pancake lens let's me enjoy a simplicity that's hard to beat. When I want to feel 'manly' I get out the Contax 645...

    I like these, especially the second one where the contours of the background object seem to frame the bird's body. You might try getting some shots of the birds when they leave the staff's hand. That will take some practice, I am sure . . . .

    Ah, mystery explained. I used a 135mm manual lens for that shot and the D70 is not able to read the lens information. I guess it adds F/1.0 as default if there is no information. The 85mm is a beautiful thing. Mixed with the D300's very low noise levels it's great for low light situations.

    Hello!

    The fastest lens I have is a Nikon 85mm F/1.4. It has, as you can imagine, some very large pieces of glass in it. Does the EXIF information on any of my photos say F/1.0? Perhaps there's a glitch somewhere or perhaps I typed incorrectly.
