    awards of architectural photography

Hi Asher these words are not the mine, but I'm sure that it is pointing towards quality, in terms of architecture as well as the used materials. Quite lots of buildings of the 70th had to be broken down - due to lack of quality. In terms of competition theme - I look it as a call to avoid to...

    awards of architectural photography

Hi as I' ve been last year in the jury of the trinational photo competition, I want to point your attention now to the 1st international awards of architectural photography: "Archifoto aims to become the main photographic contest for amateur and professional photographers who aspire to capture...

Thieves in my studio - list with serials

for the better focus capability, I'd choose the 1DII and you use any Zeiss le Asher, the 1 DII is not a option, I need FF not crop! The question is 1 Ds-2 used or 5D-2 new. The 1 Ds-2 would have the advantage of anything beeing calibrated already - the lenses for distortion and the NNP for...

Thieves in my studio - list with serials

I can't edit, can you enter at the top liste the serial for - Zeiss Contax 3.5/100 SerialNr: 6639631 incl. adapter to Canon EF and please enter Gossens Colormeter instead of the Sekonic Exposuremeter. I mixed them up at first sight.

Thieves in my studio - list with serials

I' ve to get a cam as fast as possible, as I have jobs to be done. What would you go for - in terms of IQ: a used 1 Ds-2 or a new 5 D-II? The 1 Ds-2 would offer some advantages on using zeiss lenses, and I liked them very much and think I'll go for these again.

Thieves in my studio - list with serials

If that equipement goes to internet auctions or to some photo vendors with 2nd hand stuff, it will be easier to identify. The stolen equipement can be anyware in europe, right now. I don't know what the police is doing, beside entering it in a international °stolen-database° Photographers...

Thieves in my studio - list with serials

Thanks all for your kind words yes it is devastating, it took me all night to realise it. It's true, it's gear only, but didn't I wrote at the end of last year that after a few years of searching and testing I finally was happy with my lensline? CPS is upgrading the site at the moment, so I...

Thieves in my studio - list with serials

Last night, thieves entered in my studio and stealed stuff in value of about 45'000 $. I have no digital photo-gear anymore, just 4/5' film 6/6-film and SLR-Film. As I'm living in CH, close to the german and french border, plus my lensline is pretty exotic, I make public the dtolen gear and the...

What's the tradeoff between Canon L lenses v. the new Zeiss primes for the Eos?

Asher, I never heard about a Zeiss 17... Focusing: I'm used to mf but as Ron pointed out, you might get some AF-confirm chip with the adaptor - it works identically then as with a TSE, for example.

Going boldy where I have never gone before (re. a drastic change to my lens lineup)

well, parallelaxe isn't that bad with the 24 TSE, due to low distortions. You even can stitch the shiftet frames with PTGui - in the paralell-stitch mode.

What's the tradeoff between Canon L lenses v. the new Zeiss primes for the Eos?

Asher in general, the Zeiss lenses (Contax and new series) have better microcontrast and most of them more of what's called 3-D or plasticity - than the Canons. I know, that can become a long discussion as I haven't the time for it, I leave it at the point, how it renders a 3dimensional...

Going boldy where I have never gone before (re. a drastic change to my lens lineup)

Bart I need to add that I really use rarely the tilt mechanism (could live whithout) - for archi, shift is the applied movement. Flatstitching works incredible well whithout the rail (due to low lens distotion) and is a easy way of adding a bit of image at a side, if yoy need a slightly...

Going boldy where I have never gone before (re. a drastic change to my lens lineup)

Hi Asher I' ve got the horizontal splitscreen (from Canon) on the 1 Ds-2, Im not sure if your 5 D needs a different one... works perfect with my manual focusing Zeiss, - out of the ole 4/5' days, I' m used to define the DOF mentally, in the viewer's image. With the TSE-24, I focus alwith...

Going boldy where I have never gone before (re. a drastic change to my lens lineup)

Welcome to the club, Cem! I'm sure you will enjoy it, and it will open for you some new possibilties. As far as QC, when I bought my copy last year, the Canon reps told me that they had gotten some bad copies from Japan as well.

How did you figure out what your artistic "style" was?

Asher I think I know what you mean - there's nothing bad about a personal preference, or -an example - you deal with space, etc... and yes, if it is has base it can lead to a specific quality. If you' rer aware of it, you can start to play with it and try to make the opposite of it -...

How did you figure out what your artistic "style" was?

I don 't think that a "artistic style" in itself is a goal for me. It's true, I had a similar idea - a good while ago. But then I realised, that its far more interesting to find and create good pictures than to create labels. If you've a personal preference on a important and elementary image...

    The groove of images

okay, I dont try to translate the groove into the image-language 1:1, but perimetric is fine too and might be the better approach: I' ve been talking to musicians to get a more precise idea of groove in that regard; while groove isn't a °sharp° word, and used today in a inflational manner...
