    Hitching a Ride (Buffalo)

This chap was quite happy to offer a ride in exchange for some free tick removal by the ox pickers. They do however also up wounds which isnt such a good thing. I got a few shots with the birds in flight as well, could have done with a brighter day had to push the iso. D850 200 to 400 f4 380mm...

    Golden light - injured elephant

I noticed a lot of commotion within the group. Fights kept on braking out started by one elephant. You will notice it trunk is damaged, it actually leaks quite a bit and must be causing major pain which likely translated into more aggressive behavior hence the fights. D850 200 to 400 f4 240mm...

    Sneaking Around (Lion)

I got a few sots of this lion coming through the grass. It ended up being one of my favorite sets even though my first look at the thumbnails they didnt stand out as much as a more formal poses. Its easy to see how lions stay camouflaged amongst the dry grass. D850 200 to 500 f5.6 500m iso250...

    Lions Drinking and Walking

These two would not keep still. I couldn't quite manage to get the right spot to capture them the way I would like (head on for the drinking one) so had to settle for this viewpoint. Such is life in the wild! D850 200 to 400 f4 400mm 1/3200 f4 iso 400 Feb 2024 big cats photo safari, east africa

    Canon 100-400 vs. Sigma 50-500

I'm looking at renting a lens-- either the Canon 100-400 or the Sigma 50-500 -- for a safari in South Africa. I saw an earlier thread discussing this comparison, which apparently was before the Sigma lens with stabilization came out. The consensus seemed to be that the Canon was better...
