A splendid door, Fahim, but how do you think the red on the signs came about, or is that your work?

The alley is more than 600 years old. The same separation of the 2 sides of houses on the opposite sites.

A little velvia treatment from me here...

Fahim, where is this series of ancient alleys with newer doors? (makes me think of the old axe that had had 5 new shafts and three new heads)

As always you give us a glimpse into some where and make it look special and intriguing

Hello Mike.

These doors and alleys are from various regions and cities of Morocco.

The Old City ( Medina ) of e.g. Fez/Fes is a labyrinth of alleys, and streets dating way back. Construction

on the exterior is prohibited by law. Thus the alleys remain as they were in the olden times.

Many of these old parts of the cities are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Stay in the Medina, and then a visit to the new part of town is a study in contrast. Attitudes, way of life

and even the attire.

Here is another door from a 14th Century College. The designs and geometric patterns of mosaics

in this madrasa are magnificent.
