In the second picture, I find a lot of connection. Seabirds standing on fences at docks or wharfs are immediately interesting. However, it's hard for me to compose a satisfactory picture. You have caught that mystery and also the dilemma. I have now lost judgment and interesting how good the composition is but rather am interested in the bird itself as a visitor, like the one that ones that came to Noah of old.
Another example of not seeing what is there but rather using it to go to one's library and finding the right reference and getting some deeper satisfaction, not from the answer but for better framing of questions.
So the bird, is not the bird, but all the matters it evokes. Still, is it a "good picture". I only know that it works for me!
