Jake,

What a great little fellow you have! This is a perfect snapshot and will be enjoyed and treasured by all. The fallen leaf by his feet is a great touch! The rock behind him I'd remove. It's hard to come up with improvements that can really make a difference to the quality of cuteness and adorability already embedded in this photograph. Of course you could have one foot on top of his little league football to continue the idea written on his shirt. So I can see a series with him in this place with different activities with a ball.

Why would one want to make such a picture different? It works well as it is, but if we consider it beyond a memento, then some ideas come to mind. So, I'd consider composing to place the background to fit around him better. That could require one to drop down and shoot upwards somewhat. The sky or trees might then surround his head. Currently a corner of the lawn points to one side of his face.
