AF/MF.... Mind of it's own?

Can someone refresh my memory as to why a 1DSII will revert to Manual Focus while the lens is clearly set on AF. I have files (portraits) made within seconds of one another and C1 will indicate 'One Shot" for one image and the next will be labeled as Manual.

I'm thinking this might not always be an issue, although I'd prefer to have AF when I flip that switch.

Not sure if it matters, but this was noticed from this evenings event when using the newer 85/1.2, camera was on tripod.

Do I have some CF set for this to take place? Thoughts?

I don't know the answer, but this is a puzzle. Is this a new phenomenon? Has it happened with any other lens? Also maybe you could separately post on the practical use of the new 85 1.2?

Have you set any custom functions related to focus? I think CF 4 is a definite one to check. There may be others.

Could be a bad switch or lens-body connection.

Sorry gentlemen for the delayed response... our work load has been significant.

I'm not sure if the following was the cause, but I had C.Fn-07 set to the defaut of 0 which will allow for manual focus with the camera in the One Shot mode, AFTER focus has been achieved .

I need to check the EXIF data to verify whether One Shot or AI Servo.

Hopefully this is the 'problem'. This feature applies to only ten lenses in the Canon lineup. Page 149 of the 1DsMark II instruction manual.
