Lovely pictures Jan, thanks for sharing. I wish I could be at a serene place such as this garden right now (just having a very rough time at work)...<sigh>

Cheers,

Cheers,

Thank you Cem, yes it was lovely (before it got way too hot!) loads of birds were singing we have a several blackbirds nesting in our hedge and they were busy gathering food and nesting materials, today it is too hot for me and very humid again, so I'm going to have a couple of hours of Wimbledon now, really sorry to hear you're having a tough time at work, hope it eases up for you soon, very best wishes....

Very nice pictures Jan. The rain droplets do add for a relaxing mood.

Its been humid here also. One day of sunshine in almost two weeks and they are forecasting rain all this week right through the weekend also.

Hello there Jan,

I B&W'd the Peony just to see. Either way it works...but there was something a tad outlandish with the pronounced pink of the blossom. I think because the lay of the petals is quite dynamic and dare I say sophisticated. The hot pink seems to contrast with this. Does this sound chauvinistic? Probably. Ergo, my B&W desires.

I especially like the Stipa. The bokeh adding wispy to the theme of delicate beauty quite nicely. WB recommendations: On my monitor the greens of the Stipa and Allium are spot on. The others seem to have too much blue in their hue. I can tell you have a love of flowers probably similar to my own. Go full frame sensor and get ALL of the flower's subtle magnificence. Enjoyed.

Hi William

Sorry for the delay responding but I've just come back from a trip to the Outer Hebrdies. Thank you for your b&W conversion, I like it , but I still prefer the colour version, many thanks for your time doing this....

You're quite welcome Ms. Smith. Errr...pardon my seeming rudeness as to full frame. The flowers are quite expressive...I just thought because of what I perceived as a color issue you might be using a smaller sensor. Don't ask where I conjured up that supposed logic up from.

Hi William

Please call me Jan, Janie, or Janet.......nothing to pardon! I can't see the colour problem you refer to, they look just fine to me, the day these were shot was grey and a bit misty, I think that could possibly account for what you're seeing, anyway thanks for dropping by....

Janet,

I do like this in color and especially in B&W, but would love to see a puddle of water too so that the dops are part of a more extensive motif. What would you think of that?

Hi Asher

Yes, I like the b&w too, in fact it's growing on me, I often find that I have to get used to b&w flowers for a while, especially when they're one of my favourite flowers (which peonies are). I like your 'pudddle' idea, but this is the only shot I took that day, so until another wet day next year - that's it for now...... Unless your thinking of creating it in PS somehow?

Right now I'm working on some shots from our recent trip around Scotland, so flowers are off the agenda for a wee while.... Thanks for your ideas Asher.

Actually, alone, this holds attention very well. It's delicate, very wet, wistful and works for me! Perhaps the yellow could be enhanced and the stems sharpened, but that's time consuming and might be a chore to do well. If I did want to work on it, I wonder about reducing the saturation of the green in the corners and edges, as if vignetting but by color reduction.
