A few weeks ago, I have visited the famous Canal Parade, the major event of the annual Gay Pride week in Amsterdam. More than 80 boats/floats take part in this parade which crosses the major canals of the city while hundreds of thousands of spectators cheer them on. The boats are populated by the members of many LBGTQ organizations as well as straight people, all out for a great day of fun and solidarity. Since the event is so popular, finding a good spot to watch the parade is very difficult. I kind of got lucky because I found a standing place alongside a lock which was rather narrow. Therefore, the boats were sailing very close and I could look upon the participants from above. Which made some nice photographs possible. I must have taken more than a thousand photos since the event took some 5 hours and there were photo opportunities every second of it. It was a huge effort on my part to narrow down those pictures into a manageable quantity. I will start by showing 10 of those here, although it is by far not an ideal set imo. Perhaps I will add some others later. Enjoy!

These guys were acrobatic marvels with their water-jet devices.
The entrance to the lock was via a low bridge as can be seen.
