My World: An unscheduled stop

Meeting with customer on-site, long drive. The meeting took longer than expected.
I had to find a place to stay for the night and ended up at a small town next to the river Main in Franken (Franconia).
The hotel was fine - nice room, good food, nice people. A place where you feel welcome immediately.

As I arrived late, there were not many things to do. Dinner and go to sleep immediately? No!
There is still time for a walk - just see what's there.
As I did not carry a camera with me, my smartphone was the camera here.

The name of the town? Marktbreit.

A few impressions:

Thank you for sharing these photographs with us.
The small town must be a quiet place during day time. Looks very cozy !

Michael,

Beautiful night scene, but none to chat with!

This is really a small town, but so smart to have it well lit at night!

In olden times, local industrycand farming no doubt Jet its humming along. I wonder if today it’s mostly travelers like you on this night!

I hope the business meeting went very well!

Thanks for sharing!

There was no one to chat with but I wasn't in the mood of having a chat anyway.
During daytime it is probably still quiet but not devoid of life.

There is a 15th century castle.

Then you find a 14th century (now) protestant church

A sculpture (no idea who/what exactly).

Yes, each lamp seems to be placed with care.

It is an old place. There was a roman camp close to the town.
Asher might be interested in the jewish history and the synagogue (page in German).
It is the birthplace of Aloysius Alzheimer.
It is a place for tourism.

Though it was an unscheduled stop - for me it was an opportunity to learn something about a place I did not know before.

A beautiful memory-rich place. I read the Jewish history. Commendable and then a tragic consequence of education until now.

[That Nazi evil behavior was merely the local German happenstance, (but efficient, post-industrial), expression of the trans-European disease of hatred of Jews, not its cause!]
