Prateek Dubey : And I also came along

At Haridwar, people come from all over the country to perform sacred rituals and to immerse ashes of the deceased in the Ganges. It is almost customary for these to do charity. Quite often this charity is buying a meal for the poor. This is a line which formed impromptu in front of a restuarant, waiting their turn for a charitable breakfast.
I took this picture for the smiley bag, but to my surprise there are some who are not too poor also standing in the que. Maybe next time I can also hang around for a free meal..

Yes Prateek, that smiling sun adds so much significance, very good, and the light bulbs in the BG complement gracefully the character of the scene. Love the treatment of the photo.

Even though your eye was captivated by the smiley faced bag this is a wonderful capture of people, even without the story of what they are doing, the various expressions and clothing reveals much.

These images are so unfamiliar to western eyes they look almost unreal or even staged, especially with the rich colours and characterful faces - as if you were the stills photographer for a Hollywood remake of The Ten Commandments or the West End or Broadway production of Les Miserables. Casting directors search high and low to find extras that look like this :)

This is not a criticism just an observation of how 'larger than life' or even 'theatrical' they appear to me at least compared to typical western street scenes. Great source material, well executed
