Hi, Asher. Thanks for the comments. Appreciate your time. Yes, it is I, Rocky, the fellow whose real name looks like a nickname.
Well, the bg is a white wall, and while I do remember overexposing it a bit, not sure if I actually blew it out--at least as far as the blinking red warning from Photoshop is concerned--but there is a region from the bg that spills over. What I was trying to do is to make it just a wee bit lighter than the birds's head, which is a buffish white. Looks like I went a bit too far.
Yes, Agi is a parrot, and is monotypic being the only member of the Genus Deroptyus accipitrinus with origins in Brazil north of the Amazon and west through the Guianas and into the south of Venezuela. There is a subspecies, Deroptyus accipitrinus fuscifrons whose native range is south of the Amazon extending on down as far as the state of Mato Grosso.
Because of severe habitat loss, poaching and all the other god awful stuff people do, there are precious few of these birds left. He's been with me for 7 years, and I'd be lost without him.
The photo was taken with a 100mm f/2.8 at a moderate aperture and with a flash.
