Martin Best Another Roller

Martin,

Kudos on this close up view. Its amazing how optics allow us to get this close. The only other creatures that see this detail are its family. I'd love to see an entire picture of the bird. How did you identify it? Is it by the web in the feet or what? Maybe you saw how it flies. I am surprised that a roller has feathers roughed up ike this. I have seen them much smoother.

re full size bird

as requested :)
check out http://www.wildpix.net/docs/equip/lilacroller3.php
bear in mind the original 100% crop is 2560 pixels wide so this is a 50% reduction in size, the detail is amazing at full size! So happy with the 300mm, (wish i could say the same for the 400mm however doing some tests to see if its me or the lens, feel its always softer than the 300 wide open)

also a shot here with the 400 of another sunbird

This is one of the most extraordinary birds I have ever seen! Not only beautiful colors and gracious shape but also very particular plumage.

Is there some mistake as the bird you show is titled: "Karen, Nairobi Sunbird D3X 300mm f/2.8 200iso 1/1800s"?

Martin,

I was looking for the 400 mm image. It's labelled 300mm. Could be my browser is screwed up. However I haven't found a 400mm shot!
