I haven't done alot recently. Have been preoccupied somewhat. So, a few days ago I got asked to put down a few memories of where I grew up for the local museum. I was quite flattered and so set to work. I was delighted to find in the basement some photos taken by me years ago on an old instant camera (a Prinz I think).

I could have typed for weeks about the area but with some editing it was kept reasonable by me. The chap who asked me to do this was wowed by the photos! They're not great, I was young then but they show parts of the area as they were so from a historical point of view, a local interest point of view they are okay.

There are fifteen photos I selected, probably there are only fifteen photos that survived the passage of the yeas, I had forgotten about them.

As an aside, the house is on the market and I will bereturning to England, hopefully back to London eventually. Hence not been doing much in France.

If you can pinpoint the locations Helene, it'd be interesting to see what they look like today on Google Street View.....I guess the MkII Cortinas will have rusted away by now (they also give your age away somewhat)

The Arcade, all that is left of it alas. Sutton went modern in the nineties.

Westcroft Sports Centre. It was relatively new when I took the photo.

Sutton Station, now served by Southern trains, gone full circle, everything is green again.

Thankyou for taking the time to match these up - it's nice to get lost in a little recent history. These all seem like the little details that we tend to forget about - the little things that time smooths over and without the photographs we wouldn't have any perspective on the changes around us.

We all should follow your example and dig through shoe boxes, piles of envelopes and old albums. They are great treasures to be reminded of!

Good luck on the sale of your home! Major step. London is a great new place with the old building surprisingly cleaned up. Well-mannered folk from all over the world speaking with a cockney accent!!!
