That is solid studio work and also the expression of the child is very good. The only minor point I would see is that the garlic cloves are cut on the right, if you could crop a bit less it may be better (for the chillies as well). I think I would also move the glass to the front, but I am not sure.
 
Hi Christina,

That's a nice image, and the kid is having fun as well. The composition almost works out as a triangle. For my taste the frontal lighting is a bit too much, I'd have preferred to see a bit more depth from mild shadows. I do realise it's not easy to light 2 such different subjects with one lighting setup.

With a child, this composition is a winner. I love the hair color being recapitulated in the sienna hues of the still life parts. I know how hard it is to work with kids and you have managed to pull this off very well. I'd have stitched back the rest of the onions on the right.

As to the lighting, I think one has to work on the setup without the child and have a substitute object or doll in place to allow you to optimize shading beforehand. It should not be difficult as the child and the still life are on different planes. One cold even have just one light from one side at 45 degrees and that would give more dimension to everything. what was your light setup?

Having said that, I'd still be thrilled to get this result. After all, it's the child that dominates and rises above the objects as the master experience for us.

Very good job, love it, fun and creative. How did you get the kid to pose like that? That's like "watch out chef Ramsay, I'll set you straight!" LOL The lighting is very interesting, and effective. I see a light from left pointed at the kid and another more warm from right lighting the food perhaps... Is this a single shot?
