Look how different this nest is with the organized weaving compared to the complex blobs of the nests Doug shows here. Is there no parent to drive of other birds from stealing the young? This seems very vulnerable a group of chicks!

I'd love to see more of this nest and the chicks. This seems a cosy place when there are enough chicks packed together to keep each other warm. I'm interested to see how the colors look with more of the straw nest visible.

Here are a few other nests -

As you know, we love to photograph birds. So to attrach them, we actually build several bird houses that have revovable lids. Then we check them from time to time to see progress. We have to leave the birds alone about 15 days after hatching (so they don't fledge early). So, they are normally protected (roof on), we just remove the roof to get a few pictures.

These are other nests - unfortunatly, we are now in Alaska for a few weeks to photograph grizzlies - so the babies will be grown before we get home. ; (
