Please get a damn ladder!

I love everything but the angle! The trees and the snow-capped mountains especially!

Now that’s fabulous and worth every ounce of effort! I so appreciate the remote control ability we can have to see better this scene.

You are an excellent fly-by-wire camera platform, LOL!

1. Does your stitching program allow you to make vertical lines actually parallel and vertical? If not send the RAW pictures to me and I will stitch them after my post “lunch of chili” nap!

2. Are you taking your overlapping with camera in portrait vertical position? Doing so could allow the tops of the impressive clouds to be included. You may need a second row that just gets only the overlapping top half of the roofs for stitching reference. But this panorama is so captivated us!

It's not stitched and unfortunately there is no RAW. I took the shot with my tiny little drone. I did crop & adjust the image with Shotwell

Great, then now you crawl back on the damn roof and stat from the beginning,LOL!

Actually, if you have trouble with stitching distorted little drone pics, we can stitch and geometrically correct them for you in AutoPano Giga!

Actually, the big drone MFR bought KOLOR the software company in France!

Hi Jim.

Old blokes with cameras shouldn’t be climbing ladders. Asher of all people knows that.

You’re inspiring me.

To keep my friends occupied during the lock down I’ve been posting views from windows to them. They, in return, have shared their view of the world during this strange time. There’s no question of what the image should look like. The important thing is to let us all know what it looks like for them.

It’s a beautiful thing they are doing for each other.

Just as you are sharing your view, we are learning about the behaviour and circumstances of people. And you are learning to take photographs of those things that interest you, represent your life, display your interests and develop an approach to photography that works for you and makes them unique.

You obviously live in a beautiful part of you country. Yet it’s beauty is distorted somewhat by your point of view. Your fenced in at the moment. We know that just by looking. You’re in close proximity to others. This is suburbia in a monumental landscape.
The mountains are distant but close enough to to make an impact on your life. The texture of the paling fence and the natural view is also symbolic.

There is so much more.

One thing you will realise later when you view these images is how much more you will see and how much your thoughts will add the the vision.

There lies the challenge. Stick with this stuff for know. Show us more of what you see. Walk the perimeter of your land and give us views from all sides. Play with the angle and the positioning of the fence to give emphasis to different parts of the image.

The fence has become your principal theme. Flog it to death.

Try a black and white conversation.

Cheers
Tom

Of course I disagree!

Your drone picture is proof that your ingenuity can give you more reach.

OK, I have to listen to Nicolas Claris and not encourage you to take risks to go for walks near people.

...... But perhaps you still walk a dog!

Keep it up!

I hope you are now fully healed, Jérôme! Do you have any residual difficulty with your arm or pain?

I actually now only climb ladders indoors for my photography and not higher than 12 feet!

I was strictly forbidden by my family to use my 30ft ladder to climb the roof any longer! In fact it's missing!

I suspect that my wife gave it away, but she asserts it was “stolen” from our locked garage!

Falling from the top of a 12 foot ladder would result in a collision with the floor with a velocity of about 30km/h.
Ask yourself. Would you stand in front of a car moving towards you at that speed?

I hope the thief was well rewarded for their efforts.

What make is it what’s the camera

Asher
This is the newest of 4 drones I have. The best one I haven't been able to fly for over 5 yrs now since the FAA past the law about registering them & not flying within 5 miles of an airport.
My best drone flies at 55 mph (carrying my GoPro) so the wind won't be a problem.

Why not register with the FAA?

I would register but I still couldn't fly here because there is 6 small airports in the area so I can't fly. Also I lived less than 1/4 of a mile from the Chico airport in CA.
Rule is you can not fly a drone within 5 miles an airport

Does height matter?

Can one just file a flight plan

I just hired a ‘copter to do a geo-mappings of a hillside next to the Airport by Long Beach. There are lines he can’t fly past, but he did the job within the law!

Jim,

I like the red tree/ bushes on the right. Are those spring blossoms or just the col9r of the leaves?

This is a great view to work on further. Great browns in the fence and interesting colors in the trees.
Can you switch the camera to portrait and take 4 overlapping vertical shots so you include more of those beautiful trees?
....or is there something else there which would ruin your idea

Flight height is less than 450 feet and yes but I would have to pass FAA classes to fly. It's also a requirement if you video & sell them.

At Long Beach, private individuals were flying over the water to photograph whales with really small drones and that’s right by the airport!

I know people do it all the time but it's not legal... I know of a YouTuber that I have been watching for almost 4 yrs now & he has a drone he flies & videos in Long Beach...
I don't have batteries for my good drone right now. I would love to get it out & fly it but just one battery is $30. lol
