Brimham Rocks Snow Walk

New member
Over Christmas we got out for a few local walks and I realised looking through files and negs that I could make a few sets from the pictures I had taken. Here is a first cut from a walk at Brimham Rocks on a snowy and foggy day. It probably needs a bit more editing, and I've left pictures of the girls in for now, but some of you may like to watch it.

For everyone else, here are a couple of frames from the set.

Mike Shimwell: Brimham Rocks Snow Walk

Michael,

It's very satisfying for me to find this current batch of B&W pictures here. You have done a great job. Also, it's a family enterprise. The open spaces and having to tread carefully allows you to be closer to your loved ones. So important always, but especially in this season. The tables here look like toadstools in a set of elves. The textures on the mud path is so rich and this is worth returning too as the snow melts, although you'll need big boots and a scraper for the mud. Maybe just a cold morning would be good so you can photograph the textures in angled light.

This does have a touch of magic. The ones with the girls are memorable even though I have never met them as it evokes visions of us taking our boys out in the snow n Massachusetts and New Hampshire. 'd encourage you to continue with the selection and don't automatically exclude the girls.

Hi Mike,

Very 'atmospheric' mages. I'm not a great lover of B&W landscapes, but these really suit the format.
I love the snow covered picnic tables in the first one, and am mildly surprised that there are no hardy souls sitting at them eating their sandwiches.
Why on earth would you want to remove the pictures of your girls? They add so much to the shots.

Regards,

Stuart

Walks on Stainburn Moor and Simonside

Thank you so much for your replies. I am pleased you don't min me including the girls in these sets - they are part of the subject for me of course, but I do try to include nice pictures too!

I'm trying to pull a few sets together as I often think that my photography makes more sense that way. I've now put two more film based sets up on flickr and will add a fourth digital set in the next couple of days.

This walk was another snowy Christmas walk - Stainburn Moor just outside Harrogate in North Yorkshire

A sample from the set:

And this walk was on the wooded side of a hill called Simonside, last November, in Northumberland. Contains quite a lot of people pictures.
