Burrowing Owls in Florida, pics and video

I recently processed some photos I took of the Burrowing Owls in Florida - plus, I also just put the finishing touches to a video I made to show the experience. It's something I want to start doing more of, showing the process involved in getting the shots I take. It's only my second video (and first one that actually required editing lots of clips) so bare with me as I know I still have lots to learn of this new skill...oh and I have never had a good 'reading' voice in my opinion but I'm hoping it all comes together and works ok...!?!

You can view the video here.

And here are a couple of pics, more can be seen on the same link above. Enjoy :)

All taken with the D3 and 200-400 VR plus some with the 1.4x TC

Excellent captures Richard! Love they eye contact in these shot's.

Also fantastic job on the video...felt like I was watching a documentary. I will need to visit that spot, since I live in Florida.

Beautiful series, Richard. I love these owls, and their beauty is really complemented by the soft background and foreground.

Will check out the video later. I'm also dabbling with this medium, and as you've found can be quite tedious and time-consuming! Very different in so many ways from working with still images.

Thanks Eric, glad you liked it. I'm looking forward to doing more as and when time allows.

Don, thanks - you're not wrong, video is a whole different world which is very time consuming as you say. However I'm hoping as I do more I speed up as I get the hang of it!

Richard,

Everyone should look at you video as without it, one does not get a real idea of what care the local authorities and neighborhoods have taken to protect their bird populations and yet allow access. It's surprising to see just a few stakes and some string to mark a bird and it's nest and that these are sometimes just a few meters from the road. It takes a visitor like you, from abroad to remind us of the beauty under our noses! Isn't that always the same!
