With natural things, yes it works! Man-made colors are generally designed to do the opposite. That's why so many street pictures benefit from consideration in B&W as the forms are better revealed without the purposeful seduction of color to arrogant signs or flashy skirts.

Regarding the off topic, no problems. i think that the choice of colour versus bw is on topic here.
As you know, you and i are on the same page. i only go for bw if the colour really distracts. In this example, bw was a better choice for the effect i wanted to create.
