Consistently amazed with the quality of video productions I've been seeing made by a 5D...

This video is a great example:

Does anyone have personal experience shooting video with a 5D Mark II? How easy would you say it is to handle, or to learn how to use for video production?

We shoot weddings with Canon 5s. They are great cameras. Be careful of the full frame censor though. The DOF is extremely shallow...

Hello Alanna and welcome to the forum!

Did you watch the class by Gale Tattersall on CreativeLive last weekend? It was a 3 day workshop on HDDSLR filmmaking. They were using the 5D MkII. Mr. Tattersall is a Director of Photography and he has been using the 5D extensively in the TV show House.

You can get this workshop here:

These guys at CreativeLive are producing amazing workshops hosted by seasoned professionals. They sell these videos for a very reasonable price, but you can get to see them live for free (and even participate via chat room!). Highly recommended. Check out their calendar of events for upcoming events.

Regards,

Ruben

Alanna,

I have used it - its easy to use - I prefer shooting stills and smashing them together with it. but that's just me. The video is clean and good quality. I use a manual lens - so can't tell you how the AF - and I don't have a rig for it. I just use a tripod but I am considering a steady cam setup of some description.

Would be interested if anyone uses follow focus etc.

links - best watched in HD - these are well downsized -
