Carnival - Grapevine, Texas - August 14, 2013

I have been shooting carnivals, circuses, etc for as long as I have been into photography. It is a fascinating subject that I never seem to tire of.

For those interested, the camera was a Lumix GX-1 with a PL 25mm 1.4 lens.

Rick,

This limited sampling of your work with people just waiting while others have fun, in Carnival is ironic. I'd have expected everyone to have been lighthearted and free of every day worries.

This is, however, the real truth of life. There are fronts we like to focus on but behind it all there are real human beings with their own private angst. Your pictures here remind me of the smiling circus clown, tears behind his mask were flowing when no one was around. This is one brilliant song by Motown songwriter/singer, Smokey Robinson! Enjoy!!!!
