Christmas shopping

A picture from a walk around a local market just before Christmas. The butchers display doesn't lose much out of season, but the atmosphere on the day was pertty busy.

I've made a print of this and will wait until the morning to see if my mono profile can render the seam in the lady's coat. It's just visible at 100% in LR.

This picture reminded me of just how much I like a 35mm lens on '35mm format' cameras.

Edited to add - you may benefit from clicking thorugh as the blue background upsets the very light toning.

Hi Mike,

Really nice photo, very unique and memorable. The kind of story for a 35mm. All those textures and tones must look great in print.

Regards,

Ruben

This is good, one can imagine the concentration of the buyers looking at the shop, but you may want to remove the man on the left and the black band on the right.

Damn, that has made me miss England even more now! Agree about the man on the left and the black band but generally an image that I think captures the feeling of Christmas a bit in England (an old type of England?).

Hi Mike,

I have been distracted by many things and I have neglected to react to this one. It is a great shot which works as a postcard documentary as well as a fine example of street photography,

Re, the cropping/cloning, I know that you have specifically chosen to present the image as is rather than cloning out the man on the left. I am fine with the images as presented, no worries. But had you done the cloning, I would have equally liked the picture. The person neither adds value nor distracts too much.

However, I can see why you could consider this cloning as "dishonesty", certainly within the context of photojournalism (which is in the title of this forum). This all does not take away from the fact that it is your image and you only have to be true to yourself. We are just lucky that you chose to share it with us. :)

Hi Mike. An excellent and appropriate image of the season. Love the tonality in this one. I can only imagine

the intensity of those looking at the products on display.

Bet you this was not in Golders Green.

Take care Cem.
