Crossing Borders

Robert Watcher

Well-known member
Guatemalans & Hondurans in southern Mexico, after crossing the very wide and turbulent river that separates Guatemala and Mexico —- with belongings over their head. Anne and I witness this taking place every time we cross the border for our Visa runs. What caught my eye last week, were 4 men who crossed with a truck box over their heads, and were heading up the path in their underwear, to the interior of Mexico. Desperate measures for sure.

It what is a “truck box”? Did they use it as a boat? Is it made of fiberglass? Why is it standing vertical?

But why?

What is this structure? Why would they bring it. Is it essentially a plastic suitcase?

Who are you asking? Or is it a rhetorical question?

I do not know what they are carrying as I don’t recognize it. So I don’t know what it’s purpose is or why they would carry it.

Could it be the type of travel suitcase that fits on the roof of a car for long journeys?

Or is it something that would be used as a raft to cross the river on?

Not at all rhetorical. The thing is huge and I have never seen a thing like this!
