No prefix - say what you like, do what you like.

One from the archives - although the reality for many workers worldwide remains a day to day challenge. These guys were digging trenches (that kept on caving in) after a very destructive storm in 2008 cause widespread damage to our infrastructure.

Hi Johann,

The text in the t-shirt is the strongest element in the scene, it kind of creates a header for a story, which is fairly well expressed in the photo, although not at the same level of "drama" as in the t-shirt.

Johann,

This is a good example of where the context of the picture needs to be given and glad you did so. My heart goes out to the uneducated working man who is disposable. He might get let go, he could get injured, hopefully he'll get pad.

I'd ask, how can one better show this. I think the answer is a photoessay. Can you collect or dig up, (hmm, that's apt), more pictures so we can build up the gestalt, the pervasive feelings these men have of their status, risks and roles in the compartments of society they operate in, for and between.

Great idea for a longer term project Asher. Conditions are not always favorable for taking these kind of shots. I was chased away several times before I managed to get this one - for whatever reason......

I would like to see this photo backed up with more images documenting this situation, do you have more?

Paul, the rest of the shots that make up the background story focused more on the storm itself, and the damage done, with people in the shots, but I don't really feel they contribute a lot to the pics. Now that I think of it, I should have approached this whole thing from a human perspective - showing the hardship, the sense of fear, desperation etc.

Stupid fool I am........ Was !

Never did I think I would see this T-shirt again ...... and then, late last year .....

Note: I have no idea who this lady is and was definitely not going to ask either .....

Johann,

Glad to see you back! That T-shirt always impressed me!

In the words of the Irish, that's not a lady to feck with, LOL! I'd seeing that shirt, I'd rather take on a grizzly defending her cubs!

Don't you think the boy takes after mom ?

Attitude must to some extent be a genetic thing ......

Maybe that "cub" can take care of himself.

LOL

Anyways, I'm slowly working on some project ideas to get the creative juices flowing again, so hopefully will be posting more often.
