A house fire a couple of streets away led to this demolition. Having a camera with me, I took a few shots.
Cheers, Mike

fire out

Wow, scary but nicely documented. In the second photo, does the gentleman have a tattoo,or is that printed on his shirt? Very nice set of pics.

Best, Bill

I appreciate you fast reaction, Mike, and having your camera with you!

It's amazing that a home, (a container sheltering peoples dreams, growing old together, dreams, arguments, hopes and despair), is crumpled to nothingness in just a few runs of this yellow beast-machine! Not one of the dwellers there seem to be around. There's no mourning.

"Soylent Green is people". Homes and memories are people too!

Impressive photos, Michael. Surely not taken recently unless you have moved. We had a blizzard yesterday and extreme arctic cold today.

I think it's printed on his shirt, Bill, given the shirt design in the third photo. It was a bit scary to watch because pile was unstable, with the machine on it wobbling so much I feared it might topple over. The operator clearly knew what he was doing though.

No mourners, Asher, because the house was a dilapidated rental property with the owner (according to hearsay) only too happy to collect fire insurance money. Sad really.

Right, Maggie, the photo was from last spring. We've had some snow too but not enough to bring the ploughs out yet. The temperatures though are more like the prairies than the top of Lake Superior. If you include wind chill, the lows during the last couple of days weren't that far from the point where the C and F scales give the same number (-40 degrees). Definitely Red Wing boots, lined jeans, a padded coat, deerskin gloves and triple-wool balaclava weather.
Cheers, Mike.
