The eyebrows raised by the President of the USA doing a photo-oo slow drive by his fans outside the Walter Reed Naval Hospital in Bethesda Maryland, we’re for his recklessness.

He not only has an infectious potentially fatal disease but alsoso severe as to require experimental drugs and steroids but also is a mortal danger to the secret service agents who have zero choice but to accompany him on his ill advised dangerous jaunt.

There's no physical button, but there is a "football" and "biscuit". Read more about Trump's taunting tweet on Vox.com here: http://bit.ly/2EpdQED

But worse, Dexamethazone, on its own can cause hypomania or mania as a side effect after several days.

So we have an impulsive President, surrounded by political enablers, (with a non-specialist Doctor who can’t be trusted to tell the truth), on potentially psychoactive Steroids NOT transferring power to the Vice-President!

This is a VERY DANGEROUS situation for the world. Unless he is Independently certified twice daily to be unaffected psychologically by the treatment, he should be declared “unable to fulfill his duties“, until well again.

His White House Physician cannot be trusted to be transparent so this is a very serious matter!

Still all wish him a speedy and complete recovery.

I've heard of numerous cases where the patient feels better after a few days, only to have Covid come back with a vengeance. I'm Trump would have been told of this, but he never listens & can't resist the 'I beat Covid' photo ops.

I have to admit I wish him a day in intensive care for each person he infects. If nothing else it improves the chances he might start supporting sensible measures that have minimal impact on how people run their lives (like masks & shields)

Not a chance, Mike!

He has already donned a gallon of face make up and panted up to the gallery over the Rose Garden and announced that ~ “We shouldn’t let the virus control our lives”

They have blocked the CDC from doing Contact Tracing on the White House Infections and have a clown Osteopath in charge instead of Public Health and Infectious disease experts.

Selfish and incompetent!

The following source does not cite mania as a potential side effect of dexamethazone: https://medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a682792.html#side-effects
Jérôme,

My father in law on dexamethazone was confronted in his bedroom by two robbers, going through his cupboard and wallet. He reached for his gun and bullets, which he kept on either side of his pillow and loaded rapidly under the covers and then shot them both.

He screamed he needed more bullets and then the nurse realized he was having another manic attack!

I had a patient who thought terrorists were up on the roof laying out explosives. He was going to negotiate our safety and send me up there with a check for $100,000 to allow the two of us to escape!

I lowered his dexamethazone!

A third patient told his family that I was such a super-doctor he had given me $60,000 as a gift. They demanded the $ back, LOL!

So this side-effect has to be always in our mind as a not rate part of the range of untoward consequences of steroid therapy.

A dying woman under by charge was having palliative radiation for painful metastases in bone and was on morphine and steroids. She had cared for, over the last 4-4 years by her elderly male partner and unmarried daughter.

Well, her self-estranged businessman son flew in from San Francisco with a lawyer and a cooked up will. She signed away her home to the son who had abandoned her.

I and her nurse, simply documented in the records that she was on morphine and steroids and had as a consequence, insufficient control over her mental faculties to be able to comprehend such a document.

I don’t think he even had his fare to LA covered.

To physicians, steroids are indeed wonder drugs, they often give a great mood enhancement, folk feel better, but underneath, inflammation and the immune response has bern suppressed and so disease gets masked! If delusions and mania occur, we are prepared. We back off on the dose level and often that, alone calms them a lot!

Look up again and you will better get the gestalt of the matter!

In a statement, Nancy Pelosi accused the president of showing "his contempt for science, his contempt for our heroes - in health care, emergency care, transportation... Trump is glued to his $150 billion tax cut for America's richest people, while he refuses to provide real help to poor children, the unemployed and hard-working families in the United States. According to the Washington Post, she made a reference to the President's anti-Covid treatment in front of her troops: "Believe me, there are people who think that steroids have an impact on your thinking. »

I am not disputing your experience as a physician. I simply stated that the side effect is not listed in the cited source.

Now, it seems I need to answer 2 questions:
1: why did I look it up?
2: what does the lack of mention of that side effect mean?

1: I looked it up, because I always look things up, irrespective of the speaker. I find that, in the age of fake news, getting some context is important. It is not a question of trusting or not trusting the speaker, it helps me better understand the situation. Here, I learned about the kind of treatment presently used against covid, and the kind of side effects which are frequent.

2: The lack of mention of this particular side effect does not mean it never happens. It simply means that it is not very common. Thus the probability that President Donald Trump will experience a manic attack (beyond his usual mood, I mean...) is probably low. I feel content with that and I am not going to worry any further.

Jérôme,

I commend you checking!

But you say the risk is low. A risk of 6% would be far too great for any of us to get on a jet for a joyride! The same risk, tying hotel sheets to make a rope to escape a fire might be deemed fully justified. That risk, however is totally unnecessary in this case.

No M.D. in any academic “state of the art“ COVID care center, anywhere in the world would have given Trump Steroids at the stage that his Osteopath Physician prescribed them.

I do not worry myself as, if he became changed, the folk around him would sound an alarm. But it’s common enough like running low on gas. A conservative U.K. source gives risk as 6%

From my experience, every Physician regularly using steroids will come across this at least several times a year. It’s more common, I believe in more elderly people.

it happens folk are not bewildered or surprised, rather we chuckle and say “Oops, better lower the steroids if we can!”

The Joint Chiefs would block anything crazy anyway, no natter the constitution!

so I do not “worry” either but I am very disappointed that the experts we have are not fully used!
