Disoriented

I think the idea of "the street" is interesting, even if it's not always somewhere I feel comfortable. Generally I avoid crowds, but I happened to be out during a larger public gathering (lighting of the christmas tree in one Brisbane's general squares). With so much going on I felt disoriented - it makes me want to fill everything in, have something happening everywhere in the frame.

The flashing police that manages to flare in the middle (in 2/3 photos I took!) - at first I thought I'd made a mistake, but now I think it holds it together.

(I know some of the impact is lost on screen, this is one of those that needs to be a little larger for the detail to reach that point of being overwhelming.)

Sam,

I have spent some time with this image and the emergency and strangeness doesn't seem to come across to me so readily. I did some fiddling with curves and sharpening and I think that you might consider bringing out the spread of that police light to the side walk and the light on the edge of the head on the right. Anyway, I think this image deserves a second look!

Sam,

I am hopeless at vast/wide scene coverage. I generally move in close to focus on the subject of interest
and if needed, include the minimum amount of the environment for contextual purposes.

But my subject has to be predominant.

In your picture, It would appear to be a grab shot from where you where standing, as a document of what was happening. The expanse covered minimizes the impact that you were seeking to convey.

Just my .02 hallalas worth.

Best.
